Self-Generation of Energy Will Continue to Thrive in Indiana

Self-generation of energy has come a long way in the last ten years since net metering laws were put into place to help incentivize customers to invest in private generation like solar and wind.

In an effort to continue to promote renewal energy, Indiana’s electric utilities propose to extend the net metering laws in Senate Bill 309. Customers will have the certainty of knowing that the excess energy they generate will be purchased by their energy supplier.

Senate Bill 309 is a sensible way to expand solar generation for existing customers and establish certainty for customers who want to install private solar generation units in the future.
